Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered a variety of entertaining independent titles. Yet, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is actually a turd striving to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: just use a jump control. Across one hundred fifty stages, encounter boss fights and access a shop to acquire skins for your fecal avatar.

Time your actions carefully, as a mistake requires restarting the level. Jump off floating orbs to launch your character to new heights, traverse fragile platforms, and activate triggers to reveal hidden paths. Gather currency and use them on more difficult levels where gameplay gets crazy.

In terms of design, the demo shows off eye-catching stages and catchy music score. Its minimalist visual style featuring morphing geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's hard to recall similar titles where you play as a piece of feces, gaming have long incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from character waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as plant food. Unsurprisingly, such content shows up heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received impressive recognition, like winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the final release set to launch on Steam in the fall.
